When you paste text, upload a file, save an analysis, or ask the browser extension to analyze visible page text, we process that content to generate summaries, risk scores, red flags, plain-English explanations, and related analysis.

You should avoid submitting sensitive personal information, private financial information, medical records, passwords, government IDs, or anything you would not want processed by an AI system.

3. Account information

If you create an account, we may collect and store information such as your email address, authentication details, subscription status, plan information, saved analyses, usage history, and account preferences.

4. Information we may collect automatically

We may collect basic technical information such as browser type, device information, pages visited, product usage activity, approximate location, session interactions, error logs, and diagnostic information.

• Provide document summaries and AI-powered analysis.

6. AI processing

Layman's Terms uses AI models to analyze submitted text and generate summaries, risk scores, red flags, recommendations, and plain-English explanations. The content you submit may be sent to third-party AI infrastructure providers for processing. We do not recommend submitting highly sensitive personal documents.

7. Browser extension permissions

The Layman's Terms browser extension may read visible page text only when you choose to run a scan, Smart Scan, or Deep Dive. The extension is not intended to continuously monitor your browsing activity, collect unrelated website content, or analyze pages without user action.

8. Sharing information

We do not sell personal information. We may share limited information with service providers that help us operate the product, including authentication providers, database providers, hosting providers, analytics providers, payment processors, AI processing providers, and error monitoring or infrastructure providers.

9. Third-party services

Layman's Terms relies on third-party service providers to operate the platform. These providers may process information according to their own privacy policies and terms.

Examples of third-party services we may use include:

• Clerk for authentication and account management.
• Supabase for database storage and saved analysis history.
• OpenAI for AI-generated summaries and document analysis.
• Stripe for payment processing and subscription billing.

• Vercel or similar hosting providers for application hosting and deployment.

10. Payments and subscriptions

Payment processing and subscription billing may be handled by Stripe or another third-party payment processor. Layman's Terms does not directly store full credit card numbers.

We aim to keep personal information only as long as needed to provide the service, maintain accounts, support saved history, improve the product, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or protect the service from misuse.
